The Rainbow Wahine (9-5, 3-0) served a program-record 17 aces, including a career-high six by junior hitter McKenna Granato in winning their seventh straight. Hawaii ran its record to 37-0 against the Titans (4-12, 0-4).

Senior libero Savanah Kahakai had 13 digs and needs just five to pass Kanoe Kamana’o (1,220) for No. 6 on the program’s career list. Maglio had 18 attempts, hitting .778.

Tyler Fezzes had seven kills for the Titans.

Hawaii had just two hitting errors, both coming in Set 2, and finished with a .494 hitting percentage. Fullerton, hitting .143, didn’t reach double digits in points until Meagan Carlson’s kill made it 18-10 in Set 3.

The Wahine are at UC Riverside (8-7, 0-3) on Saturday.

The skinny: Despite an overwhelming shots advantage, Hawaii fell in its Big West season opener.

UH (5-5 overall) outshot the Aggies (2-9, 1-0) by a count of 19-7 but a 36th-minute header goal by Mckenna Moriarty was all that mattered. UCD goalkeeper Alexis Smith recorded 11 saves as the Rainbow Wahine peppered the goal area repeatedly, especially in the second half, to no avail.

The Wahine had their three-game road winning streak to cap nonconference play snapped, as they fell to 0-6 in BWC openers since joining the conference in 2012.

Raisa Strom-Okimoto and Lei Medeiros led UH with four shots apiece.
